This Article will explain how to run end of year backups for our SQL Server step by step.
Note: Make sure to leave AMWEST, AM2ACCESS and Westward(This Belongs to Accounts) databases to the very last.
Note: We leave these to the end to make sure that by the time we get to them no one is doing any work to prevent any interference or data change during back up.
1. Log onto our SQL Server wwssql.RDP.
2. Check your E Drive to see if you have enough storage.
3. If you don't have enough storage move the Automaster (Because its the biggest file out of all) file into a temporary folder to create some space.
4. wwsbkup is our backup server
5. To backup a database, right-click on it -> tasks -> run backup
6. Pick your drive (E drive) and the folder you want to back up the database into.
7. Naming Convention: Complykey_YearEnd_2025_full_311225_09_10.bak
8. In the above example comply key is the database we backed up and the last two digits are the time it was backed up at.
